Central Texas Equine Therapy Center

Central Texas Equine Therapy Center (CTETC) is a program service activity and registered assumed name of Works Of Real Kindness (WORK), a 501(c)(3) public charity. 

The organization was created to fill a huge void in our community.  Belton, TX is bordered by Fort Hood, the most populous U.S. military installation in the world.  Currently, Fort Hood has over 70,000 soldiers, family members, civilian employees and volunteers.  The Central Texas area is also a magnet for military retirees.  Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a national public health concern, with estimates ranging from 2 to 17 percent in veterans.  The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 20 veterans commit suicide every day.  A Baylor University sponsored study published in 2018 concluded combat veterans with PTSD reported better mental health after therapeutic horseback riding intervention.  The veterans felt greater confidence, gratitude and hope, as well as increased patience.  With additional funding, CTETC can grow and fill this void and assist in improving the quality of life of soldiers and veterans.
